    H.M. Somayya - the popular class for the most dreaded subject of 'Applied Mechanics' for all engineering students! I remember enrolling myself for the annual batch for Applied mechanics. Since our batch started one semester early we had a lot of time and sir covered all concepts gradually. The weekly tests conducted helped me develop the practice of solving sums regularly, ...Read more which is most needed in quantitative subjects. During my second year, I was slightly skeptical about joining Somayya once again for 'Strength of Materials'. I consulted seniors who suggested I join the class for all 7-8 structural engineering subjects without a second thought. I now realize it would have been a serious blunder had I not joined the class back then!
     Somayya Engineering Academy is truly a savior for all civil engineering students. The entire journey of structural engineering becomes a pleasure if taught by Somayya sir. The terrifying diagrams and numericals become simple once sir explains the concepts and the step by step methodology. We become confident of tackling any variation of the problem if the basic concepts are clear, at which sir really does a good job. I still remember the lengthy retaining wall designs, the moment distribution methods, the beam and column foundation designs and the perfect reinforcement detailing outlined on the board by sir. In short I will say that Somayya sir helps us befriend these complex subjects! Also, Somayya sir's love for structural engineering makes him teach the same with a passion which is hard to find in today's generation!
    I personally have benefitted a lot from the knowledge gained from sir. It helped me clear all structural engineering subjects with reasonable grades, help me crack GATE as well as MPSC Civil exam. My concepts were clear and I only needed to revise those before appearing for any exam. So I definitely recommend this academy to every student appearing for competitive exams as well, as confidence over structural subjects constituting majority of the portion helps us gain an edge over other students.
     On a lighter note, the meticulous presentation and the flawless diagrams drawn on the whiteboard by Somayya sir makes even the most organized student question his own handwriting.
    Till now, the students in Pune were only benefiting from the vast knowledge of Somayya sir. As this academy enters the digital platform, I believe that every engineering student will get the benefit of applied mechanics and more important is that no civil engineering student will need to fear the structural subjects!
